Spotify Canvas, the loop that never stops
3 to 8 seconds, vertical, no visible loop point. A moment from your track that holds up on the hundredth repeat.
A Spotify Canvas is one of the hardest short formats to get right. It has three seconds to register, it plays behind the player controls, it repeats forever, and it starts muted. A trimmed-down music video rarely holds up under all of that. The loop has to be built as a loop, with one strong image, a seam you cannot see, and motion that stays interesting long after the track has moved on.
I build each Canvas as one audio-reactive environment locked to your BPM, art directed from your cover and your references so it feels like part of the release. The process is short: one direction, one revision round. That is what keeps a single loop at €700 and makes a batch across a catalogue affordable.
Same sound-to-picture work as the full-length visualizers, in eight seconds. I have been making CG since 2006, freelance since 2012, and I work from Tokyo (GMT+9).

What this covers
- A single 3 to 8 second loop with an invisible seam
- Motion locked to the track BPM, audio-reactive when unmuted
- One visual environment, art directed from your cover and references
- Vertical 1080x1920 MP4 to Spotify spec, plus other ratios on request
- Batch loops for a release or a back catalogue, at a reduced per-loop rate
- A Canvas cut from an existing full-length visualizer as an add-on
What it costs
A Canvas runs on the music visualizer LOOP package: one visual environment, one art direction, one revision. Order several tracks together and the per-loop rate comes down.
- LOOP: one 3 to 8s Canvas, vertical masterfrom €700 per loop
- A set of loops for a release or cataloguequoted as a batch, per-loop rate reduced
- Canvas cut from an existing JOURNEY visualizerfrom €300 as an add-on
These are starting points. Already have an art direction, a brand guide? Tell me what you've got and we work the price around it.
All prices in EUR, excluding tax. Invoices are issued in Japanese yen (JPY) at the exchange rate applicable on the invoice date. Tax treatment and export exemption details are provided on the formal quote and invoice. Quotes valid 30 days. 40% deposit to start, 60% on delivery.
How a project runs
- Send the track, the cover art and referencesThe BPM and the artwork are usually enough. A quote comes back within 48 hours, Tokyo time.
- One art directionA single still or short test that sets the environment, palette and motion feel.
- Build and loopThe environment is animated to the BPM and the loop point is hidden so it repeats seamlessly.
- One revisionOne round of adjustments to colour, pacing or framing.
- DeliverThe Canvas-spec vertical master, plus any extra ratios you asked for.
Before you ask for a quote
What are the exact Spotify Canvas specs?
A vertical 9:16 video, 3 to 8 seconds, that loops seamlessly. Spotify asks for at least 720x1280; I deliver 1080x1920 MP4. It plays muted in the app, so the motion has to read on its own. I still build it audio-reactive to the track BPM, so it locks to the music when someone turns the sound on.
How is a Canvas different from a full music visualizer?
A music visualizer follows the whole arrangement of a track for its full length. A Canvas is one looping moment. It has to land in three seconds, hold up on the hundredth repeat, and sit behind the player UI. That is a different problem, so it gets its own short process instead of a trimmed-down visualizer.
Do you need my stems for a Canvas?
Usually not. The BPM and the cover art are enough to build a loop that feels like the track. If you want the loop to react to a specific element, a vocal chop or a synth stab, send that stem and I drive the motion off it.
Can one Canvas cover a whole EP or album?
It can, but a loop per track reads better across a release. I quote sets as a batch with a reduced per-loop rate. For a fully art-directed release, the album visualizer route ties every loop to one visual system.
Can I use the loop outside Spotify?
Yes. The same vertical master works as a Reels or TikTok header, an Apple Music motion artwork, a looping post or a website background. Tell me where it needs to run and I deliver the ratios you need.
How fast is a Canvas?
The LOOP process is short: one art direction, no call, one revision. A single Canvas usually turns around in about a week once the brief and deposit are in. A batch is scheduled across a longer window.
